Emmett Till

Emmett Till was an African American boy who was murder over a false sexual harassment allegation. The woman who accused him told her husband, her husband was so mad he got him and his hand brother to find him. They found him in emmet till's bed so they dragged him from his bead and toured him. They lit him on fire and then shot him. They wrapped barbed wire around his neck and tossed him in a river. The body was found three days later and her mother demanded an open casket to show the brutality of racism. The media had a field day and the pictures of Emmett Till were heavily publicized.

This death was massive for the progression of civil rights. This case shown how blacks were being treated in the Deep South. In Europe this was also massive because it was showing what African Americans had to go through in America. This caused outrage and only helped the case for equality in the United State. The bravery of the mother to have a open casket was immense since her son was mutilated.
