The freedom riders were civil rights activist that gave bus rides through the south to protest racial segration. These Civil rights activist were white and black. They tried protesting by using a whites only bathroom but this only led to there arrest. White protestors against the buses would incite violence against these minorities. This was an effective way to protest racial segregation in the United States of America. But this also brought in national coverage of what was happening. Yes they were committing a crime against the law but just because it is legal does not mean it is a guide for morality. Freedom riders were thinking the right way on how to protest these issues.

The worst thing they could off done is cause violence that would cause their message to be unheard and gave whites the upper hand. They protested in the Supreme Court over bus segregation in the case of Boynton vs Virginia. The freedom riders won the case and the supreme court denied it was unconstitutional to have segregated buses. Freedom riders knew what was morally right and I appreciate that they ended seprate buses. With this case you could make the argument that other areas could not be segregated because it is unconstitutional.
